Return To Leap Movie
"Leap!"
Sold Out! (Article written on
1/26/2009)

The Show: Despite the showing of the premier of Leap! in Durango on
inauguration night, WE HAD A SOLD OUT SHOW at the Abbey Theatre!
THANKS to everyone who attended and thanks to everyone who helped get the
word out about the event.
The Workshop: We filled the Leap! workshop the following day at
Pathways. Thanks to the participants, thanks to Teresa for providing the
workshop venue and thanks to both Teresa and Pamela for coordinating the
workshop event.
My Personal Notes About Leap!: Sometimes we have dreams we don't
even know we have until they choose us and we listen and we allow them to
happen. This was the case for me with Leap! Last November I saw the notice
for the premier of Leap! in Fort Collins, Colorado through an email from
The Healing Path. My insides resonated like a tuning fork and before I knew
it I was picking up the phone and calling the Abbey Theatre here in
Durango. I left a message requesting that The Abbey bring Leap! to Durango.
A week later, Brad, the owner of the Abbey, called me back and said the
movie looked exactly like the kind of film he likes to show but has trouble
gathering enough of an audience to merit a show. He said he needed someone
to back it. I hung up the phone, thought about it and realized it was up to
me. Before I knew it I was in a whirlwind of creating the event, calling on
resources I didn't know I had and step-by-step the event came together.
The story that most people don't know about this event is that along the
way I almost self sabotaged the showing of Leap! about four times. It's a
miracle we had the showing at all considering I had to learn to get out of
my own way, plus we almost lost the showing in the middle of the change of
ownership of the Abbey Theatre and plus the showing was on inauguration
night (ummm - I psychically chose January 20th because it was the day of
the month carrying the most energy. It didn't dawn on me that was
inauguration day . . . go figure!) But the show, as business people in this
arena put it, must go on and it did.
(As a spiritual and psychic side note there were many magical moments in
creating the Leap! event -- one here worth note. On the days that I
travelled to Durango to do business for the Leap! project, the parking
meters I parked at ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS had time on them. As if to
make their point that I was on the right track, one day Spirit not only had
time on a parking meter for me but had also placed a dime on the parking
meter I pulled up too. I put the dime in the meter and left and when I
returned the meter was just ticking out--they had provided me with the
exact amount of time on the meter I needed!)
So, the night of Leap! as Bob and I drove to the theatre, I experienced my
last moments of wanting to bolt before the show. I was terrified no one
would be there. I was terrified everyone would be there. Deep down, by
creating the potentials of this event I had somehow changed and moved
myself into my own unmarked territory and this was very uncomfortable for
me.
Bob and I walked to The Abbey and somehow, people were already waiting in
line for the movie before we arrived! I was so heartened and relieved--I
knew then the showing of Leap! was going to work. That night as the theatre
filled, the film makers for Leap!, Chad and Isaac arrived, thrilled with
the attendance and venue and asked me how many years I'd been doing events
like this. I had to laugh -- it was a huge joke -- because it was my first
large event to coordinate and little did they know it was a miracle we'd
all brought it together!
I find it incredibly ironic that by creating the venue to show Leap! I
actually am a living personification of the concepts talked about in the
movie "Leap!" By creating this event I have leapt beyond the
illusion of my own perceived limits into a land I did not know I could
create. Even though its stretching me in some uncomfortable ways, I don't
believe I'll be able to return to the person I was before the movie --
living this experience has extended me into new territory and I'm excited
about what other conscious oriented venues we can create in Durango.
I am so thankful for all the help and participation I received and we all
received in creating the Leap! movie experience. (Yes - grass roots
marketing works and the consciousness community in this region is alive and
well!) As the film rolled in front of a filled house and we all began
watching, I felt moved that I had created space for community to come
together and connect at a higher consciousness event in Durango, Colorado.
I saw so many familiar faces that night and a lot of new faces. As the
movie played, energetically, I felt the energetic resonance in the theatre
rise. Whether we knew it or not, as a collective we were opening thoughts
and energies into higher consciousness.
Eventually, the movie completed, Chad and Isaac stepped forward to work
with questions. I stepped out in the lobby to visit with people as they
left. Since then, I've heard comments from folks that stretch the
continuum. For some, there wasn't anything new -- they'd heard it before.
Others felt that they really needed to hear what was in the film and it was
new to them. Some were ecstatic that we brought the film to Durango and it
was just the right thing for them in their life at the right time. As I've
listened to these comments, once again I've learned to get out of the way
and just let it be. Who am I to stand in judgment of what this film means
from one person to the next? My job was to create and I did! But I really
like what Lisa from H2O had to say, "When is it ever a bad time to be
reminded of the concepts presented in Leap!?"
