Leap! into the new year Critics
Picks by Amber Terrell (January 2009)
“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a
very persistent one.” The quote is from Albert Einstein in the early part of
the twentieth century. The movie,
Leap!, produced, written, and directed by Colorado filmmakers Isaac Allen and
Chad Cameron, was inspired by that ancient and haunting question to which Dr.
Einstein’s statement alludes: “Is the world literally an Illusion or is it just
our perception that is the illusion?”
A blend of science, psychology,
philosophy and spirituality, the film features interviews with more than twenty
authors, speakers, and teachers who have touched on this elusive question in
their own writings and work including Dan Millman (Peaceful Warrior), Gary
Renard (The Disappearance Of The Universe), Fred Alan Wolf (The Yoga Of Time
Travel), James Twyman (Emissary Of Light), and Puppetji (the enlightened
puppet).
In Leap! Allen and Cameron have
spared us yet another how-to-visualize-and-manifest-your-desires movie; instead
they present a compelling invitation into those all important questions: What
is real? What am I doing here? What is happiness? What is the ego? As each
of the interviewees approaches these questions, a virtual smorgasbord of
spiritual knowledge, often times profound is laid out before us.
Showings will be available throughout the
Denver/Boulder/Ft Collins area in the coming weeks. Be sure to stay for the
out-takes, very funny, and buy tickets ahead of time--the film has been selling
out. Info and DVDs available at http://www.leapmovie.com.
